It’s hard to say Into Darkness is the worst Trek movie when there are other far shoddier films, boring in ways devoid of ambition, but it’s certainly the Trek film that most thinks Trek is lame and for nerdy losers.

She rates In the Pale Moonlight as a 9.5 out of 10. Past Tense still wins out for her. She loved the episode, but wanted Sisko to cross the line more to justify the big speech at the end.

We are at In The Pale Moonlignt. The last few episodes have been hard for my girlfriend to watch (given current events). I've been hyping up this episode since we've started so I hope the current political environment doesn't mar this episode as well.

Writing-wise, most ridiculous moment of decade was as writer-guest for a workshop held at someone's house. During the workshop, I got a massive headache & asked for aspirin. Someone gave me aspirin after which I began to itch. "Sorry--gave u my anti-itching pills by mistake." 1/?

It is the joy of every man who is into tech slowly turning your girlfriend into a gamer. I don't know if I'll get to play my ps5 again.

If LLMs are conscious, they are like an imbecile gifted with eternal life who through sheer willpower managed to memorize most of the things smart people say.

No human of even low intelligence needs a billion training hours to get a multiplication series right only 50% of the time.

Dr K's guide is a great resource for meditation. Just got done with the first practice (Nadi Shuddhi), and it works remarkably well for calming the mind.

How does Cameron justify the likelihood of evidence for each hypothesis? It's vague, "This seems right to me!" Well of course you can make any position seem "silly" if you assign priors and likelihoods in (convenient) ways.

I DNF'd Crime and Punishmebt for now. I couldn't get into it, hopefully returning to it later this year will make the process of reading it easier.

Part 1 of Crime and Punishment is done. So far, not in love with the prose. Chapters 6 and 7 were genuinely great when the story was allowed to breathe but the constant author intrusions and consistent "show then tell" is bogging the narrative down.

I had to do both parts of the elephant section in It Takes Two. My girlfriend couldn't bring herself to do it.

My reading challenge begins with Crime and Punishment. Starting up a substack later this week to discuss each book with an emphasis on prose.

Playing It Takes Two with my non gamer girlfriend, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Had no idea this was a straight-up horror game, you cannot convince me otherwise after what you do to that poor vacuum.

I'm always shocked at how much worse motion blur makes movies look. We're watching Gladiator II and with motion blur, the CGI looks straight out of a PS2 with terrible artifacting around the actor's bodies. Without the blur, it's a beautiful movie. Keep motion blur off by default TV manufacturers.

Girlfriend did not dislike the Ferengi episodes. Then Rom's mother took her clothes off for him and now she can't handle it.

We just got to Bearded Sisko. We're almost the Sisko's final form, Bald Sisko.
