I know this is stating the obvious, but the Republican Party is beyond a joke. Everything it historically claimed to stand for is vapor: small government, states' rights, etc. The Federal Government randomly detaining citizens based on algorithmic patterns is insane.

We are losing something by having newsrooms where everyone who has more than a few years’ experience has gotten fired. I don’t fault a young writer for not knowing about things that happened before she was born. But now there are no editors to help give context to these stories, either.

It rocks that this sort of thing is just playing with the sound on in every waiting room in the country once you get 50 miles outside a major city. Two people with stuffed animal eyes shaking their heads sadly over footage of the president being inconvenienced briefly.
