I like to roam the Everglades, garden, make food and cocktails, have fun with my husband and daughters, listen to music, watch things on screens, read (duh), play bass while my sister plays drums, play TTRPGs (Cyberpunk, CoC). I'm an ID doc and researcher

Favorite quotes from favorite books.

"Sanity is a valuable possession; I hoard it the way people once hoarded money. I save it, so I will have enough, when the time comes.”

My staff is hearing reports from Head Start programs in Oregon that they're still locked out of federal funds. My office is doing everything it can to get more info and get funds flowing before providers have to start closing their doors.

The Treasury Department right now. People are turning out against Musk and DOGE staging a takeover of the Treasury’s payment system. This crowd is big. The whole block is packed. “Lock him up,” everyone yells.

Took our kids to the carnival and offered to get my husband a beer. As I walked away, I realized I didn't ask him what he wanted, so I turned around and shouted, "STELLA? STELLA!?!" like some bougie Stanley Kowaski.

Reading William Zinsser’s “On Writing Well.” Maybe my 4th or 5th book specifically on the craft of writing. Common themes I’m noticing:

1. Adverbs and adjective should be used sparingly. Don’t beef up a weak verb, use a better verb.
2. Use fewer words. Cut anything not necessary, not doing work.
