We need to recognize that this is a problem. We need to go back to a society that demands that companies are responsible for the well-being of their employees.
We need to say these CEOs are failures and that they need to be treated as such.
Walmart and McDonald’s are among the top employers of workers who rely on food stamps.

McDonald's CEO raked in $18.2M last year — over 1,000x the company's median employee pay.

Walmart's CEO pocketed $27.4M — 930x the company's median employee pay.

See the problem?

Is it so difficult to add a hint button?
Do players flat out refuse to use it or something?

The OP is a case of “reality Is indistinguishable from parody” in the wild.
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

As crazy as this sounds in English, the Japanese language has a lot of adjectives that are also onomatopoeia, so I think this is only a 7/10 in the wildness scale.
this is the wildest way to communicate your vision for the game design

and what's hilarious is he actually did make it happen

Digital reanimations of dead people fit the definition of necromancy and everyone should start calling it that.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
October 17, 2025 at 7:03 AM
Necromancy wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card.
Churches showing an AI Charlie Kirk telling congregants, through an artificial voice, not to let evil win is a new level of instrumentalizing the dead.

When Trump goes, I think we’re going to see the same thing. Visions and AI slop will abound. Prophecies and messages from beyond the grave.
I wrote about how MAGA is being shaped by a politics of immortality, how Charlie Kirk’s martyrdom reflects this, and what it could mean for the future of Trumpism. Read at @liberalcurrents.com

Some of the best international reporting on Venezuela I’ve seen recently.
The Venezuelan rumour mill is brimming with the idea that America may soon mount a military operation to overthrow the country’s unelected president, Nicolás Maduro
Venezuelans wonder if America will bring down Nicolás Maduro
By speaking openly about authorising a “covert” CIA operation against the regime, Donald Trump is fanning the flames

"Living through the rise of a dictatorship just means inhabiting a space that is gradually shrinking. There’s no point in resisting, not at first. You just make do with whatever breathing room you still have—until you lose that too."

Prediction: there will be a Silksong update with options to reduce difficulty.

Like crabs, every online discussion that goes long enough eventually becomes about semiotics.

“Respect the player’s time” originally simply meant “no filler” (as judged by the dev).

Trying to expand the definition beyond that just results in shorthand for “things I like”.
This convo I had highlights the difference in what "respect your time" means in games.

A lot of players want to trade time for in-game progress. It's purely transactional: 1 hour = 1 progress

But I want to feel like my actions matter i.e. what I do with time creates progress, not time itself.

Es increíble como la prensa, la universidad, los empresarios venezolanos fuimos más valientes que esta banda de cobardes.
Perdimos, pero al menos dimos la pelea.
Oliver Darcy @oliverdarcy.bsky.social was curious; so he asked Ben Smith — co-founder of Semafor, and former media columnist at the New York Times — if Smith thought democracy is under threat in the U.S.

Good question.

Silksong was developed the way it was because the developer didn't have to worry about money.

The only way you get more games developed like Silksong is if Universal Basic Income becomes a thing.

The worst part is that I don’t think there’s even any kompromat. Trump is just that easy to manipulate.
A murderous dictator has kompromat on the US President and is making him do his bidding.

The Cold War never ended for Vladimir Putin.

What is happening to America right now is his greatest triumph.

In general we MUST bring back in the internet age the skill of identifying when you're being advertised to. "It's a viral trend." It's an advertisement. An influencer casually like "I love this product." It's an advertisement. These people are getting a kickback! You are being advertised to!!!!
A principle that I think needs to get more widely circulated is that if someone is selling you a way to make money, it means the method isn't making enough money for them.

This very popular account is a fascist psy-op.
“The two parties aren’t the same. Don’t ‘both sides’ this.”

They both support GENOCIDE. That’s enough for me.

For bad-faith actors, every accusation is in fact a confession.
The U.S. right-wing called it’s opponents “snowflakes” for years, but their arguments for everything now are how they *feel* about safety/society, not facts.
And of course feelings cannot be disproven, so anything can be justified.

No one would have any confusion about what is happening if they saw it in another country.
Autocratic leader, building on racist propaganda, falsehoods about crime data, and an alleged assault on a member of his extralegal office devoted to gutting the budget, moves to have federal armed personnel take direct control of the streets of the capital city.
