hey a fun thing is that if congress is delegating authority to an independent agency then by definition that agency is not "unaccountable." it is still accountable to congress. and it is interesting (read: extremely frustrating) to me that these people just write congress out of existence here.
Kavanaugh: Broad delegations to unaccountable agencies are dangerous for individual liberty! We have used the major questions doctrine to prevent agencies from overreaching.

When I worked for the US Senate Commerce Committee’s aviation subcommittee; we didn’t once hear someone ask for a gym or a roll up bar in an airport. What we did hear?
Duffy on what he's doing to improve the airport experience for travelers: "Maybe I want a workout area where people might get some blood flowing doing some pull ups or step ups in the airport."

the fact that amtrak cascades hit another ridership record in FY25 despite shutting down for two weeks and spending half the year running smaller trains with higher prices bc of the horizon recall is another sign that the demand for rail in the pnw is genuinely insatiable

Im in greater danger commuting to work in a car than I am riding the bus or a subway. What we doin about that?
Sean Duffy: "The truth is, transit across America is dangerous. And these liberals -- liberal mayors -- they want everybody out of cars and into trains but they made the trains unsafe so nobody really wants to ride them ... even big men don't want to ride the subway at those times of night."

I say this as a former Hill staffer, pay attn to the ones who thank the staff.
Cory Booker just gave the longest speech in the history of Congress and concluded by apologizing to everyone who had to stay up all night keeping the chamber open and operating.

Girls are like, “I really needed this”, and its this….
Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

Yesterday, Michael Waltz claimed that he’s “never met, don’t know, never communicated with” Jeffrey Goldberg.

Here’s a photo of Waltz standing next to Goldberg during a 2021 event at the French Embassy.

The event Waltz attended—a Q&A with a French filmmaker—was moderated by Goldberg.

Listen, for any Senate-confirmed position, there’s a saying that still rings true. The Senate giveth and the Senate can taketh away.

A list today for no reason:
-there is no cong auth for war in yemen
-the VP isn’t Comm/Chief
-its not legal to evade public records laws
-its not legal to share class info outside of approved channels
-saying intel officers’ names on unsecure channels is amoral
-lieing to congress is not legal

Heres the difference. Right now? This is the most that a Member of the House can do. The Senate, however, can file articles of impeachment if he doesn’t go. Would it pass? You don’t know if you don’t try.
Pete Hegseth must resign or be fired immediately.

If only a body of the American government had the power to impeach senate-confirmed positions…if only…
Pete Hegseth never should have been tapped for this job. It's too important.

He should be fired immediately.

Germans are, in a word, decisive.
"A survey of over 100,000 Germans revealed that 94% won’t buy a Tesla vehicle. It doesn’t bode well for the automaker, whose sales had already been falling off a cliff in the important European market."
