I try to be as generous and constructive as possible but I did once have to write "this essay tells me more about you than the subject of the essay."
when I was in college a famous novelist was a guest professor for a year and immediately became notorious for her scathing comments to undergrad writers, including, “it’s not that you need to be a better writer, [name], it’s that you need to be a better person”

anyway, thinking about that today

Q: You have described Attila as a barbarian and the scourge of God. Are you affirming that Attila is the scourge of God?

POPE LEO I: -

ATTILA: That's OK. You can just say yes. It's easier.

After Trump Mamdani, I fully believe Pope Leo I really did just talk Attila out of it.

There are so very few opportunities in this modern life to say this, so I just want to record for posterity:

My copper merchant has delivered very high quality copper, in the amounts requested.

Break the cycle.
Maxed out my large format printer for this very fun little project of mine.

First form printed. Now to go visit my friendly local blacksmith to do some bronze casting.

Even on the left in discussion of the imminent AI bubble burst, I don't see much on the immediate stakes for normal people; jobs, housing, mortgages etc. beyond the exposure of pensions, index funds etc. Mostly preoccupied with the downfall of hated companies and technologies. What am I not reading?

BREAKING 🚨: Equinor has admitted the Rosebank oil field would result in 249 million tonnes of CO2.

That's more than the combined annual emissions of Ireland, Belgium and Greece.

But Equinor says that's not their problem. They profit, everyone else pays the price.

I am so sick of living in a world where certain groups insist art & culture be re-oriented to serve their tastes and whims when their own pitiful inability or unwillingness to critically engage with and contemplate creativity clearly demonstrate that art & culture are too good for them.
