1/ In case you missed it: on Sunday evening, Jason Stanley was invited to speak at the Jewish Community of Frankfurt to commemorate the November Pogrom of 1938 (referred to as 'Kristallnacht' in English). His talk was cut short after members of the audience shouted him down. German interview below:
Streit um Gedenken zum 9. November: „Leute im Publikum haben mich angeschrien“
Der US-Philosoph Jason Stanley sollte in der Jüdischen Gemeinde Frankfurt eine Rede halten. Sie wurde abgebrochen. Stanely ist schockiert.

!!!!! Public service announcement!
One of the reasons why Finland is the happiest country in the world is that the public broadcaster Yle sends a live feed of the first 8 weeks of a pack of puppies every fall. It’s already the fifth edition of ”Finland’s most therapeutic live feed”.

This is what I call value for my tax money

This would be funny if it weren't so tragic.

I've only looked at the "simplification" rules for data protection and they seem to be written by someone who doesn't understand the regulations in the first place.

It's not about disagreeing, irrespective of goals they're incompetent. 🧵
In 2026 will continue simplifying ↓

Over a half of our legislative proposals will focus on making EU laws easier to apply and implement faster.

Cutting complexity to food safety rules 🥴
From energy and taxation to food safety and medical devices, we’re cutting complexity to:

✅ Save businesses over €8.6 billion annually

✅ Deliver faster services, safer products, and less admin for citizens

✅ Boost innovation and competitiveness across the Single Market

Did you know a former White House climate advisor flipped a GOP stronghold in Virginia by running entirely on putting a stop to more AI data centers?

For @heatmap.news I profiled John McAuliff and a campaign that will be a roadmap for all future anti-AI politicians moving forward.
This Virginia Election Was a Warning for Data Centers
John McAuliff ran his campaign almost entirely on data centers — and won.

Excuse me but why does this photo and description accurately represent my mother 🤣
A key figure in US politics that I think a lot of European observers obsessed with MAGA voters haven't really got their heads around is your average boring middle class suburban voter who in the face of incomprehensible reactionary chaos hankers after a Normie Revolution.

Watching Mamdani's victory speech, I'm struck by his—and his campaign's—unabashed vision of the US as an immigrant society, a culture built from the ground up from diversity. It is a complete rejection and reversal of the search for a white-washed homogeneity that the political right projects.

But Democrats swept 3 seats today.

It's now very unlikely the GOP can win an outright majority on the court before at least 2029:
