Interesting question.
Is it a coincidence that ICE has primarily targeted states (CA, OR, MN) without “Stand Your Ground” laws?

This is going to be a very, very charged Thursday, the 22nd: on the one hand, a crisis meeting of the European leaders, and on the other, Jamie Bartlett is dropping FOUR NEW EPISODES OF "THE MISSING CRYPTO QUEEN"!!!
Given the significance of recent developments and in order to further coordinate, I have decided to convene an extraordinary meeting of the European Council in the coming days.

Just remembered that when Ursula von der Leyen and Donald Trump concluded the EU-US deal in Scotland, ambassadors held an extraordinary meeting in… Nuuk, Greenland.

They were all there for a visit organised by the Danish presidency.
Today’s extraordinary meeting of EU Ambassadors will begin at 17.00 CET and take place in restricted format.

Ambassadors will examine Trump’s 10% tariff announcement and coordinate possible next steps. France has already asked for the activation of the Anti-Coercion Instrument.
The Cyprus presidency has convened an extraordinary meeting of EU Ambassadors (Coreper) for Sunday afternoon to discuss Trump’s 10% tariff announcement.

The embarrassing capitulation of the EU on trade and energy in the summer, followed by the humiliating U-turn of the EU over tech regulation in the autumn didn't even buy us goodwill from Trump to make it to the spring.

A lesson for appeasers.

Reading through the legal act of the EU's Anti-Coercion Instrument - and its definition on "coercion" reads like it was written for Trump's action:

A third country threatening to apply trade measures (here tariffs) interfering in the sovereign choices of an EU member states (Denmark on Greenland).

What a difference five months make...
Predictability for our companies & consumers.

Stability in the largest trading partnership in the world.

And security for European jobs & economic growth in the long-term.

This EU-US trade deal delivers for our citizens & companies, and strengthens transatlantic relations.

This is your reminder that Hungarian-Jewish scientist George de Hevesy dissolved two Nobel Prizes in aqua regia to keep them out of the hands of the Nazis.

He then left the dissolved solution on his shelf and fled to Sweden.

(After the war he un-dissolved the gold and the prizes were re-cast.)
