We conducted a poll to see if Americans really want to work in factories for the rest of their lives, which Howard Lutnick said is the administration's goal. Turns out, they don't! www.dailykos.com/stories/2025...

Catholic cardinals on Thursday elected a new pope—and it's not Donald Trump. Instead it's a Chicago man who has been critical of Trump and Vance on social media.

DOJ is short staffed and has a rising workload. They just sent a signal that no one should grant them a courtesy filling extension because they use that extension as an opportunity to further injure the opposing party instead of working on their briefs.
Holy fuck

Not only did a federal judge just order Trump to *immediately* reinstate tens of thousands of fired federal employees across 6 agencies, calling their firings "unlawful" and a "sham."

The judge said he might also extend his order to cover more agencies. www.huffpost.com/entry/judge-...
Judge Orders Trump To Reinstate Thousands of Fired Employees At Six Agencies
Trump’s terminations of probationary workers at the VA, the Interior Department and other agencies were “unlawful,” ruled U.S. District Judge William Alsup.

Last time I checked, canceling $60 million to build affordable housing developments wouldn’t actually make it easier for people to afford their rent.

Today Trump is targeting anti-Israel protesters. But next it will be anyone who dares speak out against him. If this doesn't terrify you, you clearly haven't studied history.
I disagree with many of the anti-Israel protests, especially those that target Jewish spaces, but this is appalling. Deporting people based on their political beliefs is a horrifying slippery slope that will not end well. Jews should not be applauding this.

if you find yourself reluctant to support the guy at Columbia because you find some of the politics he espoused distasteful or even abhorrent, you should know that this is exactly the reaction that they hoped for in choosing him as a target for unlawful detention based on political speech.

This is fascism at its core. Trump is making lawyers fear who they take on as clients. This is happening before Trump uses the DOJ and FBI to go after his enemies. At that point, wrongfully targeted people won't be able to get the best representation. I am terrified. www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...

Amy is exactly right. And for any Jews who think a new era of rampant scapegoating will be good for the Jews (or for Israel for that matter), I don’t know what to tell you
As far as I can tell, Khalil has still not been charged & his attorney/family still don’t know where he is.

Any Jew who thinks this is going to start and stop with a few Palestinian activists is fooling themselves. Our community should not be used as an excuse to upend democracy & the rule of law.
The Trump admin is exploiting real concerns about antisemitism to undercut democracy: from gutting education funding to deporting students to attacking diversity, equity, & inclusion.

As we’ve repeatedly said: this makes Jews - & so many others - less safe.

“It’s a sad spectacle to see a law firm …rendering itself into an instrument for lawlessness. It’s also a cautionary example of how lawyers should not conduct themselves as the Trump regime proceeds with its effort to replace the nation’s justice system with one governed by cronyism and corruption.”
While the Trump Regime is targeting lawyers for conducting themselves ethically, other lawyers are seeking to profiteer by aiding in Trump's assault on the rule of law, as I discussed here.

Hassett was always a hack, from years and years before Trump. But this is such an abject, willful, absurd level of lying.
Kevin Hassett suggests Canadian authorities are covering up major fentanyl operations: "I can tell you that in the situation room I've seen photographs of fentanyl labs in Canada that the law enforcement folks were leaving alone. Canada's got a big drug problem."
