Live by the vibecession, die by the vibecession.
A fiery President Trump — addressing Americans from a holiday-decked White House — insisted the economy is stronger than people think it is and any problems are all Democrats' fault.

It's a message that poll after poll says most voters don't believe.
Trump's Christmas message: Things are better than you think
Trump's 18-minute address was essentially the speech he was expected to give last week in Pennsylvania, where he went off-script.

Constant deprivation is treated as a fact of life. The legal system is widely treated as a joke. The “I know a guy” economy flourishes. People ask me how they can win the favor of elected officials or gov’t employees, working around a system said to be sacrosanct but understood to be crumbling.

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

the reason you can tell "Artificial Intelligence" is fraudulent is that if you tried to tell an average adult that you believed a statistical average of reddit posts and pirated books from libgen could combine to make a brain, they would laugh at you

The particular brand of performative Christian identity Beckwith ascribes to requires you to go around wailing you are persecuted and a victim, while simultaneously threatening your own colleagues if they don't vote exactly the way you want them.
The Lt. Gov. of Indiana has now deleted this post which confirmed that the Trump admin threatened to withhold federal funding from Indiana if they didn’t gerrymander.

I dumped it when it became abundantly clear their internal 'research' was limited to election ads spent in RUBLES targeting US voters.

Which is to say, the minimum amount of effort to infer the actual amount of foreign actors spending on psyops.

And they pocketed all of that revenue.
I dumped Facebook back in 2015. It was discovered that "META" provided Russia election rich data via Cambridge Analytics. Russians used that data to target voters and get Trump elected. Fancy Bear a Russian hacker group hacked the DNC emails in 2015. FCK FACEBOOK

Second film tonight is a lot better.

"Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," a late entry Sidney Lumet crime thriller with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei, Ethan Hawke, and a young Michael Shannon(!) cast as a total lunkhead.

Watching "Mountainhead," an incredibly strange, and fairly uncomfortable, film about techbros.

Steve Carrell's character appears to be based on Peter Thiel or Larry Ellison, but his vocal take is more Jordan Peterson.

Not something I expected, but one I heard it, it totally fits his delivery.

I can't pretend to have the level of smooth brain needed to equate cultural hegemony with racial purity.

The Manhattan Project, the greatest scientific achievement in the 20th century, was accomplished because of scientists fleeing the human rights hellscape these rich louts want to emulate.
This post by the world’s richest and most divorced man on the site he bought to promote his far right extremism is ripped straight from the Klan messaging of the 1870s or the 1915 film Birth of a Nation that inspired the Klan’s rebirth as a PR stunt/Ponzi scheme/terrorist organization in the 1920s.

Wound up watching "The Road to Wellville" because it was an Alan Parker film I hadn't seen.

Gotta say, Dana Carvey's performance is worth price of admission alone.
