This moment is quickly peeling away from precedent. People are being sent to prison camps on ethnicity alone, being stripped of legal status, accused of “terrorism” on ethnicity & protected speech. This isn’t an immigration anymore, it’s not deportation. It’s something else entirely.

Americans pretending they don't have time to stand up for Palestine anymore because their own house is on fire now still don't understand that it's all connected. Your houses are on fire because their houses were bombed on your dime.

Columbia hitched itself to this ride and there’s no backing off now. They’ve aligned the entire institution with what looks to be a coming campaign of illegal domestic surveillance and human rights abuse, if not inevitably torture.
BREAKING: The US Justice Department is examining whether student protests at Columbia University over the genocide in Gaza violated federal terrorism laws, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said today.

We need to let our peers who don’t watch the news, don’t follow socials etc know about Mahmoud Khalil’s illegal detention/disappearance. They need to know it could be their students next.

If you do not act to protest Columbia admin collaborating with ICE & Trump to illegally detain Mahmoud Khalil, you are consenting to your campus being next. You are giving a green light to your admin to hand over your students and colleagues. Enough is enough. ACT NOW.

This is how both the first and second red scares began: deporting legal permanent residents for nothing other than their (also legal) political beliefs

Many poor white people who voted for Trump will lose access to food & medical care because of his cuts. No. They don't "deserve" that. No one, ANYWHERE, deserves to lose access to life. Especially not for making bad choices in a system that makes a mockery of "choice." Hope that helps.

Seeing so many hospitals capitulate on trans youth care means that if Trump does a similar executive order for adult care, most trans people could immediately lose access. It doesn't matter if it's unlawful if these cowardly clinics cave to these bastards.

I am working on a story covering ACT UP LA, but in the meantime I do want to emphasize that it's extremely important for every single trans person to become organized as soon as possible!!

This is a very good thread.
A lot is really discouraging about the rise of fascism in the US. I feel particularly distressed at how difficult and unlikely a popular front between liberals and the left is, largely as a result of the horrible turn of liberalism this last year. 1/19 🧵
