A guaranteed no-go because of the symbolism— a repeat of the 1994 betrayal, hosted by the most anti-Ukrainian European leader who eyes pieces of Ukraine. A reminder that Trump’s « peacemaking » skews heavily towards Ru.

Also, there will likely be no Pu-Zelensky meeting anywhere.
Budapest? Not everyone may remember this, but in 1994 Ukraine already got assurances of territorial integrity from the US, Russia and the UK. In Budapest. Maybe I’m superstitious, but this time I would try to find another place.

The frontlines in Donbas are strategically the same for 2yrs now. Ru can’t conquer it. If Ru truly cared about control of Donbas only, it would have proposed “land for peace” 2yrs ago. “We just want Donbas” is the new version of “we just want Crimea” and it’s the exact same bald-faced lie.

Western media should say more often and more explicitly that Ru's main summer offensive FAILED. It's important context for the upcoming negotiations. Ru is failing and thus its maximalist demands on Ukraine should not be taken seriously.

Academics... shocking discovery by me today.

Reviewers of an economics journal used to be - in living memory - thanked for their services by delivery of a CASE OF WINE.

What have we let happen?!?!

For non-academics: we do this entirely for free now, usually out of work hours, under pressure.

The largest % of Brits know climate change is real, want the govt to do something about it, and are *very* happy to accept renewables as solutions.

Labour should not allow Farage to weaponize net zero, which he has such a weak case for. So many reasons to push forward with a just energy transition.
