Do people in other countries wonder why the date of Black Friday seems random every year, the way we all have no idea how Easter is calculated?

1. Empire
2. Star Wars
3. Andor

That’s it. That’s the list.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

I still don’t really understand why Jack sold. Twitter was our monoculture, a truly global brand. He gave away his great contribution to global culture to be dismantled.
If you're trying to convince your friends to spend time on Bluesky rather than X, maybe show them this. X is not "the public town square" or about "free speech." It's "just what Elon Musk wants you to see." If you see stuff he doesn't like he'll step in to make sure you don't see it for long.
If you scroll on X, you are only being shown what Elon wants you to see. If you create content on X, no one will see it unless Elon wants them to.

Ray Dalio said today that the bubble gauge has reached 80%. But bubbles don’t pop until they’re pricked. It looks like the dot-com bubble sat at 80% for years.

I don’t know that we’re necessarily about to pop… but the longer we sit here without popping, the higher the probability gets each month.

His utter domination of the GOP is even more amazing when you consider he’s spending it entirely on a personal pet issue that literally no one else in his party cares about.

I remain struck that, when Trump started the fight in the first place, he didn’t even come up with a story that it was fair or right. He just publicly, nakedly told Texas to game the system.
“.. their strategy hasn’t worked out as planned. In fact, it now looks like Trump and House GOP leaders may have been better off not doing anything at all.” 🤡

Schumer will dare a Republican Senator to object. Who will do it?
NEW: Schumer confirms he'll move to pass the Epstein resolution in the Senate tonight by unanimous consent.

This is one hell of a piece of writing
“Trump died on December 8, three weeks before Christmas. The news broke during evening programming. Within three hours, coverage had settled into rhythm: the same footage, the same talking heads, the same speculation. No one yet understood what his death would reveal.”

To be honest, the only reason I ever go back to Twitter anymore is because certain journalists remain there exclusively. I’d be curious to also understand which audiences are still there. Musk may be preaching to his own choir at this point.

On the coattails of what’s likely to be an… interesting… cycle for Republicans.
Representative Elise Stefanik, an upstate New York Republican and a leading ally of President Trump, is preparing to announce as early as Friday that she will run for governor next year, according to three people briefed on her plans.

Why is this the first reaction? What if the “deal” is Dems getting what they demanded? Let’s stop going around telling everybody the party sucks without even having a reason.
Establishment Dems: “We just had a sweeping win proving people want us to fight for them and that we can beat the fascists.”
Also Establishment Dems: “Quick, back to capitulating!”

What an utterly spineless and embarrassing political party.

Based on what Trump said this very morning, you’d think he would want to talk to Democrats tomorrow about [checks notes] not cutting Obamacare. Feels like a win-win for him.
