Chuck Schumer doing what he does best: folding to Trump’s authoritarian regime and failing the American people. You’d think after last week, he’d understand the moment we’re in and the leverage he has. He must be replaced as leader immediately, and the out-of-touch corporate old guard needs to go.
Deal to end government shutdown in reach
At least 10 Senate Democrats are expected to support a key procedural motion.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)

Dems have spent the past two months saying they're fighting to address the crisis of spiking healthcare costs and now they're caving for a deal that does nothing to address healthcare costs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

even if they don’t get enough votes to cave, they flinched. they showed republicans they’re too soft to hold out much longer. anyone who was even considering a yes deserves a primary

Democrats would do well to remember that trusting a party defined by deceit and bad faith isn’t just naïve, it’s dangerous to democracy itself.

Pay attention to what Democratic candidates are saying right now. Find and support the fighters. Having a spine must be a litmus test issue in 2026 and beyond.

I just called and left messages for Arizona Senators Kelly (D) and Gallego (D) telling them that if they cave without a guarantee of ACA subsidies they are going to lose their entire base in one fell swoop.

Senate Dems, do not cave. Ensuring healthcare premiums don’t surge is an 80-20 issue. They want to gut the ACA because their disdain for Obama far outweighs their concern for anyone’s health.

I’m voting no on the continuing resolution that would double healthcare premiums for 20 million Americans, kick 15 million people off Medicaid & allow 50,000 Americans to die unnecessarily every year.

All to give $1 trillion in tax breaks for billionaires.

Everyone’s focus at #SCOTUS is (understandably) on the birthright citizenship cases.

But in two other pending applications, the Trump admin. is asking the justices to let it immediately subject more than one *million* additional immigrants to arrest, detention, and removal.

Bonus 150: A Tale of Two (Other) Immigration Cases
A deeper dive into two of the pending emergency applications from the Trump administration in immigration cases that have received far less attention, but are no less important.

The VP of El Salvador repeatedly told me "the ball is in your court" when it comes to bringing Abrego Garcia home — making clear Trump is violating a 9-0 SCOTUS ruling to “facilitate” his return.

I said this in my recent letter to Trump, and here's the video to back it up:

Remember when Republicans pretended to care about deficits? I'm sure you do since it was literally six months ago and for four years before that.

Now they're perfectly fine adding $2.5 trillion to the deficit to pay for their billionaire tax giveaway — while gutting Medicaid. Sadly predictable.

The figure is expected to intensify a national debate over spending and tax levels as President Donald Trump tries to push the legislation through Congress.
