Educated Voters started with a conversation among friends that grew into a mission: make political info relatable and accessible for minority groups, youth, LGBTQA+, and others. We're building a community where questions are welcomed, and politics feels approachable again.

We need a 4-day, 32-hour work week with livable wages.

There is no reason that people need to be working this much.

People need time off to rest and spend with family and friends.

I think it is shameful how Canadians will be upset over Trump's increasingly closed borders while saying nothing about how Carney has closed Canada's borders to immigrants and refugees.

Reminders, as public health officials warn of a very bad flu season:

🧵

* Washing hands is not a strategy for a respiratory virus. N95s, ventilation, air filtration -- especially in hospitals.

* We should have been cleaning indoor air with the same effort we put into cleaning drinking water.

I love how people on the internet get obliterated if they say something like “This horrible person deserves bad things” but one of the wealthiest people in the world can just be like “Yeah I’m gunning to have mass public hangings.”
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

About that "$2.5million for fluoride" line I keep hearing, a couple points…
• That's a one-time capital expense. It's not annual. JFC.
• The fluoride system is on the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant's budget. Cutting it won't lower the city's mill rate. Quit telling people it will. #yqrcc

We all know that ICE is violating human rights in the U.S.

But did you know a Canadian company is profiting off ICE? And that this same company has been ramping up its lobbying efforts?

Now, in my latest for @thetyee.ca, the government won't tell me if this is a red line for procurement:

We need to talk about Bill 9, Bill 9 and Bill C-9.

Somehow, they’re ALL awful — and they all infringe on the freedoms of Canadians, from trans Canadians, to visibly religious Canadians, to Canadians protesting genocide.

Can we agree: no more Bill 9s until we figure out what the hell is going on?

I also offer space for you when things feel too much. Rest with me a bit.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.
