Many of 2025’s best mysteries and thrillers mixed genres with abandon, leading to hybrids such as a time-loop whodunit, a family saga-cum-crime novel and a gay gothic historical suspense novel. @flatironbooks.bsky.social @penguinkids.bsky.social @minotaurbooks.bsky.social @harpercollins.bsky.social

The whole point of the White House was to be the people's house and NOT a palace...a symbol of democracy.
Oh look, there are renderings. The Versailles jokes make themselves. Also, this architecture firm should be laughed out of existence.

Something I can't get over about the Trump presidency is just how humiliating it looks from the outside, just total and utter humiliation on the world stage, how pathetic it looks that a president is hawking his billionaire pal's garbage cars from the office, there's no other way to describe it.

Hell yeah! Handsfree and we can often fix them ourselves. If the US follows suit I won't have to cling to my 2016 FiST for the rest of my life.
Next year, the EU will require cars to have buttons & dials -- not just touchscreens -- to get a top safety rating.

This is a great move. Drivers can fiddle with knobs & buttons without taking their eyes off the road, but they can't do that with touchscreens.

(Even better: Tesla will hate this)
Cars will need fewer screens and more buttons to earn five-star safety rating in Europe
Euro NCAP will release new testing guidelines in 2026.

Is it just me or has WIRED been dogwalking the rest of the media on this story

sign an executive order into law is not how any of this works
Fun one from today that nobody seems to be clocking amidst all the more substantive chaos. The White House comms department is now declaring that Trump can now "sign [an] executive order into law" without a bill passing Congress. Have never seen this language from a prior White House.

Seen a bunch of folks commenting that Twitter feels like a ghost town. No surprise. Remember, around a quarter of US users create 97% of the content. And a whole lot of those users just told Elon to get fucked. Twitter will be tumbleweeds soon. www.socialmediatoday.com/news/new-stu....
