King Don was not a good man,
He lived his life aloof;
Alone he tweeted messages

The Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, and the Fair Housing Act were legitimately enormous accomplishments. Vietnam was a monstrosity.

LBJ is a great illustration of why Manichean categorizations of presidents as "good" or "evil" don't work in most cases.

A couple of years later, in third grade, a new kid showed up in my class at school. He was from Vietnam and was living with a family in the neighborhood. When we went swimming at the YMCA, his body had big scars from napalm burns.

I was about 6 years old and knew about the Vietnam war from my parents and friends who had older brothers of military age. I wrote a letter to LBJ asking him to end the war and bring the troops home.

You will be visited by three spirits.

Dems also need to welcome groypers into their big tent, or they will never be able to compete with the GOP.

Black Flame was great. Thank you for writing it.

Yes. One of the Syracuse 2 is a friend and colleague.

It's very scary times for academic freedom.

And the greatest threat is from the very same people who used to denounce "cancel culture."

We've had at least four faculty in TN fired for expressing wrong opinions about Charlie Kirk. There's the faculty at TAMU fired for teaching about gender nonconformity, despite a review that found no justification for firing her. There's the tenured prof at Muhlenberg fired for criticizing Zionism.

I would love to see that outcome.

Otherwise this ends up chilling everyone who teaches.

Instead of the traditional roast, we're doing chicken Big Mamou for Christmas dinner.

The fired instructor may not feel safe becoming more publicly identifiable.

Also, since it appears that she may be planning to sue OU, her lawyers may be advising her not to speak publicly about this.
Derrida, in questioning how Heidegger can know what he claims to know, throws in this "and another thing!" where he asks how can one possible claim to know the sex (gender) of Christ, which is not something anyone can determine of another person.

Happy Christmas!

Very different to post Vatican-II conversions, as you say.

My Jewish mother in law converted to Catholicism in the late 1930s.

Fed. judge quashes yet another attempt by Trump's DOJ to get the personal data of trans patients and former patients, and does so in sarcastic and angry fashion calling out the administration's ill-intent and lack of good faith.
