new George Civeris special copes with the loss of monoculture by taking aim at 32-year-old Caroline Polachek-listening city-dwellers for the better part of an hour. delightful stuff

My friend Dan Perlman made this short doc about being hired to impersonate Michael Bublé at a party and it’s so funny and good. (And my other friend Charlotte produced it!!!)

Spotify is garbage on every count: Its treatment of artists, its ICE advertising, the CEO's investment in military AI, its leading role in the commodification and AI slopification of music, its terrible audio quality—you name it.

So I quit, and put together a complete guide to getting off Spotify:
How to quit Spotify
This Black Friday, here's a guide to finding the best Spotify alternative

my work contracts have mostly wrapped for the year, and I'm taking this extra downtime to reset/rethink what I want to be doing professionally next year (which is to say, I'm job-hunting).

as I always say: I’ve seen 4 movies and 3 of them were The Social Network
The list of movies I haven’t seen would drive anyone who’s even thought of opening a Letterboxd account insane. Like it is actively, perceptibly irritating to many of my closest friends
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

I fear it’s not just artists who’ve come to think of music critics as part of a PR machine, but the wider public. Which also feels like the natural outcome of legacy outlets that once nourished criticism winnowing culture coverage down to nothing, and exchanging what’s left for celeb gossip
But here's what bothers me: On more than one occasion I've seen an artist suggest that a critic's job now is to basically be an extended arm of PR. And while sometimes the best thing we can do is be advocates for great art, that's far from true, and the implications are a little gross.

weird part of the summer is here! you cannot fight the chaos. you can only become it. act on your most feral ideas. deal exclusively in 5-paragraph texts. make eyes at every man in the bar only to reveal that you’ve filed your smile Labubu-style

This is a historic horror that the United States government allows to get worse every day.
60,000 Gazans have been killed. 18,500 were children. These are their names.
Palestinian children have been killed at a rate of more than one per hour since the war began.
