I made a starter pack for KS5 maths (teachers, posters, and other people involved in it)
Most of the starter packs I've seen for maths teachers have been for all age groups, so this one is aimed towards sixth form (16-19 ish)
Please let me know if you'd like adding (or removing)!

Polite notice: Please don't do this. It's weird and rude. Just reply to me normally if you'd like a conversation, or don't bother.
Why are you quote posting a reply to me? That's very odd behaviour. Do you do this in normal conversations, shouting your reply to everyone in the vicinity?

I made a “how do you do, fellow kids?” joke to someone in their mid 20s who, it turns out, was too young to have heard of that meme.
So “how do you do, fellow kids?” is now an example of “how do you do, fellow kids?”

Can anyone suggest any reading (blogs, posts, research etc) on "being a good maths key stage 5 lead"? Any guidance/best practice/communities/things to have in place would be greatly appreciated! #UKMathsChat #MathsToday

I've collated some data from UCAS for the top 25-ish universities that our students (from the Hull area) progress to to study STEM subjects, comparing the published entry criteria, the most common grade profile for students currently on the course, and the lowest grades of a student on the course...

The concept of Black Friday in the UK confuses me so much. It's like if a country that didn't celebrate Christmas suddenly decided to have a Boxing Day Sale 🤔

In #MathsToday I did some CPD for my department on using the CG100 calculator for #ALevelMaths. I used some of the excellent video tutorials by @tayyubmajeed.bsky.social - very helpful, thank you!

I've been reading up a bit on the British Mathematical Olympiads, and two things have amused me:
1) The BMO2 was known as "FIST" until 1991, when, presumably, someone realised it wasn't a great name for an exam 😅
2) The early past papers (1972 onwards) were just sort of bashed out on a typewriter

So noone told you life was gonna be this way

You spend your half term staring at floor tiles that all look the same
It's like you're always stuck in a DIY store...

#ALevelMaths teachers who use the Casio calculators (CG100 or fx-991), what things do you teach students to always use the calculators for? Thinking along the lines of the "solve" function for equations, or using the linear simultaneous equation solver if a pair comes up in the middle of a question.

Any UCAS experts on here? My daughter is struggling to enter her current course in the Education section. It’s a UAL Level 3 Diploma. It’s not on the list but we know it should be.

Really nice to be able to share Senior Maths Challenge results with students today; lots were pleased with their awards. 14 qualified for the Senior Kangaroo (including some Y1s), and a lovely student who still doesn't realise or believe quite how good she is qualified for the BMO1 🥰🥇🥈🥉 #ALevelMaths

Anyone else not-so-patiently waiting for Senior Maths Challenge results? They were out by this time last year. Students are pestering me 😅

Another great opportunity for #ALevelMaths students in the north-west region (sadly, we're too far east!)

Getting quite a few reference requests through from year 12 #ALevelMaths students for the Imperial mA*ths Online Programme at the moment. It's well worth encouraging students to apply, especially if they have some additional circumstances such as being in care, a young carer, free school meals, etc

This strikes me as the sort of Teams feature that could be abused by people who think their job is more important than it is...
