1/6. Are modern contaminants causing eggshell thinning in birds? In the first chapter
of my PhD I have completed a systematic review evaluating whether 6 contaminants
cause eggshell thinning by assessing the volume of & agreement in the literature.

Study: Oil companies are not ‘part of the solution’
New research in the journal Nature reveals oil and gas companies own a “marginal” share of global renewable capacity, years after claiming they would lead the energy transition.

Really cool this! New insight into where museum specimens come from is always welcome, would love to be able to apply it to egg collections (many of which are unlabelled due to their collectors being old, bored, 19th century toffs who were only in it for aesthetic value and prestige).

I have a fundamentally different political view to that entire March today.

But I am fucking sick of the rank classist comments eg referencing things like "flat roof pubs" and Wetherspoons when talking about it.

Translation: "Every other landlord round here is hiking the rent, so I reckon I can get away with it too."

This is exploitation, plain and simple. We need robust rent controls now.

My response to those who say it’s “too late” to address climate change and global environmental damage.

It is NOT too late. As long as one tree is still standing, one whale is still swimming, and one child is still breathing it is not too late to protect something precious.
