“The responsibility of the media is, as always, to look precisely at what is being said and done, and the context in which that is happening. In this racially charged moment, that responsibility is more important than ever.”

As Dutton parades his softer side, let’s not forget how hard he’s played the politics of race
In these racially charged times, the opposition leader has returned to old ways as the election campaign approaches.

If you're wanting to FOI a federal minister's office about something, you should do it now.

If the current government loses the election or if there's a reshuffle, the documents will suddenly no longer be a "document of a minister".

Rex Patrick has been fighting against this but govt is appealing.

I am the chair of my workplace’s LGBT employee reference group. One of the things I am most proud of in my life is helping a coworker dad understand what it meant when his kids came out to him, and how to respond. He didn’t know the terms or concepts, but he didn’t want to hurt his kids.

This is even more exciting than when Michelle Obama announced she was a knitter!!!
Thank you, I’ll have plenty! I used to crochet a long time ago and just started knitting a few weeks ago.

It’s been a great way to stop doomscrolling and reflect 😌

I’ve finished a Sophie scarf and have started a sweater. (I’m waiting for more purple yarn & am casting on a new cardigan as I wait 🫣)

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.

“Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion
The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.

This is where I'm at right now. There's a difference between being informed and poisoning your brain with what you can't control.
A lot of this is going to get blocked in court. A lot of it isn't really meaningful. And unless it's literally your job there is not much you can do about any of it tonight. And no, worrying about it does not somehow give you control over events, my shrink was real clear about that.
don’t give into that shit - you’re allowed to log off and just catch up on it later
