I like how some Japanese model railroaders with very limited space represent mainline trains by cutting them down to single truck length. I think it would be fun to experiment with the same concept but based on North American prototypes...

New (sub)project: making some couplers. They are 1:8 scale models of the ones used by Arthur Heywood on his 15” gauge railways. I have two pairs of them that were commercially made many years ago to use as a pattern. They are white metal whereas I’m making six more by machining brass

I am soldering very small rectangles of brass (6x4.5x0.5 mm) onto equally small brass rods (2mm diameter) in order to make oil flaps for my model rail cars wheel bearings.

The screwing from my previous post was done to install some steel plates with threaded holes which allows for quick install and removal of a small vise.
