A lot is happening right now. Make a note to yourself to remember, heading into the midterm elections in a year, that GOP senators & reps asking you to vote for them were willing to starve their constituents—your friends, family, maybe even you—for Trump.
Judges rule that Trump must fund SNAP immediately. Now the question remains, will Trump simply ignore the courts like he's prone to do? This is the biggest lever the GOP has to try and force Dems to cave on extending ACA subsidies and they're hammering on it like a child with a noisy new toy.
Live updates: Trump administration must fund SNAP payments during the shutdown, judges rule
Two federal judges ruled on Friday that President Donald Trump’s administration must continue to fund SNAP, the nation’s biggest food aid program, during the government shutdown.

So far, the national press has largely ignored Philadelphia's first strike by city workers since 1986.

Donald Trump gives people permission to be their worst selves. His politics are not just representative, they are generative. His words seep into people’s souls and slowly corrode whatever potential for human decency ever resided there.

Apparently Texas sends mass “Blue Alerts” to phones every time a cop is in danger.

And a lot of people are so understandably sick of it that they’ve *turned emergency alerts off entirely*, meaning that they aren’t getting actually-useful notifications.

Kudos @meiselasb.bsky.social - that interview was extremely well done. Ben Folds was cut-wrenching honest. I hope everyone listens to him and shares the pain of his decision.
Folds: If we’ve been told our whole lives that we can’t spend money on the arts because they’re not important—then why was taking over the Kennedy Center and the arts the first thing they did?

It is extremely important. It’s the bedrock of self-expression.
