I have some THOUGHTS, a thread:
the thing is I do think some of these “they told me I couldn’t be hired. Because I am white” stories might be true in the sense that this is a thing an established white professional would tell a young aspiring white professional, with no basis for believing it other than their own racial grievance

As a constituent, I am asking that @governorwalz.mn.gov and @keithellison.bsky.social arrest these men and prosecute them before they kidnap someone and intentionally freeze them to death
ICE detain U.S. citizen for looking Somali—use illegal chokehold to tackle him to ground.

Man repeatedly begs agents to look at his digital passport ID—they refuse.

Drove him 7 miles away before releasing him alone into Minnesota snow storm—told him to "walk home" in freezing weather advisory.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

They are horrible... but also so very strange.

In this beautiful world of sunsets and kisses and flowers, good food and good drink, laughter, tears, and smiles, they insist on spending their single precious life deciding who gets to be human and who doesn't.

Tragic, ugly, and just SAD. A waste.
I’m just waiting for these racists to break out the calipers and start comparing skull shapes. They’re like one bad poll away. I’m so sorry. 🫂

“What fascisms old and new have in common is they tend to look to women to fill in the gaps that the state misses."

And, I'd add, they get women to fill these gaps by making patriarchy's coattails the only way means by which women can achieve security or esteem.

Fascist regimes pushed narratives of domestic bliss, yet relied on women’s unpaid labor. In the US today, ‘womanosphere’ influencers promote the same fantasies

This was inevitable once the conferences and playoff started expanding. The NFL-ification of college football is nearly complete.
The Big Ten is, indeed, in the *very* early stages of discussing the idea of a 28-team College Football Playoff model, source confirms to NBC Sports (as ESPN reported).

Would eliminate conference championship games & have most spots designated per league.

We keep writing about this destruction without getting to the core of it. “White Americans who are racially resentful towards Blacks, hold negative views of immigrants, and believe that whites are being discriminated against are especially likely to hold anti-democratic beliefs.”
Study shows growing link between racial attitudes and anti-democratic beliefs among White Americans
A new study reveals anti-democratic beliefs among white Americans are strongly linked to racial resentment and perceived white status threat. This connection has grown stronger over the last decade.

“Our democracy is in danger. The path ahead will be hard. Indivisibles are ready to do the work - it’s time for a Senate Democratic Leader who is too.”

this confirms something i have long suspected, which is that certain people are told that their professional and academic failures are because of “affirmative action” or “DEI” as a way to avoid difficult conversations about their mediocrity www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...
You Blamed DEI for Hurting Your Career. Now What?
For people who pin their failures on diversity, corporate America’s DEI retreat removes a barrier—or maybe an excuse.

Given my overlapping interests (visible on my feed), this is how I have thought about teaching video since I became responsible for preservice teachers. Every successful coach spends time watching and analyzing video with players.

These have been incredibly helpful with PSTs who are entering classrooms with established routines and expectations. For both field experiences and student teaching, they’ve been helpful ways to encourage PSTs to try new things without feeling like they are completely upending their CT’s space
After years of work, our team is starting to release instructional nudges for math teachers. These are small suggestions designed to be quick and easy for teachers but also meaningful for students.

Right now 11 are available, with more coming very soon. #MathEd

Also, the idea that you can live in the United States during any era, but especially during the Trump era, and not be exposed to right-wing ideas is just laughably stupid. We are inundated with the worst (racist, sexist, classist, anti-trans) ideas all the time.
