Someone scammed me out of five hundred dollars a few months back and while that's on me for being a gullible little shit I also find it admirable the amount of effort they put into that. Like there was straight up a whole cast of characters and everything

I've talked to a few folks this morning who were talking about stopping work on their creative projects. Because it's "not important anymore."

I don't know who needs to hear this, but DON'T DO THAT.

We win by living our lives as loudly and truly as we can. That includes your "silly" art project.

One thing many activists I admire have in common is that they don't see hope as a fleeting thing that just visits when things are good. They see it more like a skill you practice or a muscle you build. As Mariame Kaba succinctly put it, "Hope is a discipline". friendsofattention.net/sites/defaul...

One note, just to be safe: BlueSky's DMs aren't encrypted. Don't put stuff there that you wouldn't want to be made public.

And now I'm going to make a list of datasets and scientific sources that rely on US govt funding and which may be shut down or at least become more precarious to see if we need to make some backups....

Thank goodness for @CopernicusEU and @esa

I got so many thoughts. Muddled by this stage of grief. But I look forward to letting the grief happen, and once it’s done, to continue to paint, organize and fight.

I keep thinking how art, hope and community are so important in these times. We’ll need those now more than ever.

I’m going to focus on keeping my shit together, I’m going to try to be more locally involved in whatever community I find myself in, and I’m going to try to write stories and characters that will hopefully inspire the best in people.

And in the meantime I’m going to reinstall Wolfenstein II.

Because I am a person who choses to fight the darkness with rage, spite, joy, and laughter, I do want to stress:

that is not everyone's coping mechanism. and while I don't have a lot of respect for relatively privileged people who are dooming all over the place...

ffs, crying is NORMAL TODAY.

if you want to chat about something sensitive, you can use Bluesky DMs to exchange contact info, but I would recommend moving the conversation to Signal.

Bluesky DMs are private, but they are not (yet) E2EE. Signal is hardened, focused, and does privacy/security best.

ANARCHISM STARTS IN THE NOW
the way forward is together. we build power from the ground up. in the US and everywhere else in the world.

a better world is possible and we can start building it now, by ourselves. anarchism starts in the now.

My faith continues in the good. The selfish and cruel were always there, but the kind will need all the help they can get. Hold fast to the people you care for and survive. Live and continue to work together. There is always a chance for a better future, no matter what.

Why do people only ever seem to use "Epicurean" to describe food? Epicurean hedonism isn't limited to food, Epicurus believed the key to life was prioritizing pleasure/minimizing pain in any way you can, but nobody ever describes tits or heroin as an "Epicurean delight"
