jrpg isn't a real genre. its a useful shorthand and comparative term (i.e. if you like tales games you'll probably like falcom games) but when more academically discussing things like whether the genre has "evolved" enough or not it becomes tautologically useless

I have over 100 bucks in Gamestop store credit- maybe I should spend it soon before the company goes out of business? Because this kind of move feels like them desperately grabbing anything of value before an eventual liquidation sale.
