New to bluesky, but I like the vibes!

Feels like stepping into a hot shower after a year of trudging through mud and toxic sludge.

I enjoy crosswords, D&D, and college football in equal parts.

I also have a PhD in political science and offer very occasional commentary on world events.

Ahoy!

COLUMN: The ACC airing replay review communication is awesome, and every conference should start doing this.

Transparency is good for fans, plus it's more entertaining TV than the status quo.

The ACC’s live look into replay review is working, and other conferences should take note
The ACC has introduced a level of replay transparency that should become the norm across the country.

it is always worth remembering that vance made a conscious decision to be a person of low character. he has eagerly contorted himself into evil for the sake of what amounts to a whiff of power.
This is an actual exchange from a VP who took an oath to defend the constitution and, as a citizen, is expected to abide by the law.

May we one day have accountability for the grotesque lawlessness of this regime.

Game Changer is the greatest show ever devised and they can’t keep getting away with this

Season 7, episode 1 is just pure joy. Absolute comedy gold. Devious. Sensational. Wholesomely unhinged

Again, when we explain things to people who don't pay much attention to politics we sound insane
An unelected South African has taken control of the US Treasury and is deciding to stop payments on American obligations, in violation of numerous court orders, and admits in the Oval Office that he has done so upon incorrect information, while the President sits impotently behind the Resolute Desk.
Reporter: You said an example of fraud that you have cited was $50 million of condoms was sent to Gaza but after a fact-check apparently it was Gaza in Mozambique meant to protect them against HIV.

Musk: First of all, some of the things I say will be incorrect

More blatantly illegal acts by the administration. They truly believe they’re above the law
Plainly unlawful and unconstitutional. No one can issue such an order; the President and his officers cannot simply ignore an entity created and funded by Congress.

andrew johnson was impeached for violation of the tenure of office act. in the scheme of things, was that a huge deal? not really. the actual issue was that johnson was trying to scuttle any attempt to reconstruct the former confederate states on an egalitarian basis and *that* was intolerable

This is a good explanation of a very important problem. The ability to shut down any payment Musk and/or Trump don’t like is not only extremely illegal it’s also a power grab on an unimaginable scale. This one move potentially renders Congress’s power of the purse meaningless.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent gave Mr. Musk’s representatives at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency a powerful tool to monitor and potentially limit government spending.

There’s not.

Much congrats to Notre Dame. Hell of a team, deserved win.

This Georgia team wasn’t the best, and they were absolutely infuriating to watch at times. But they were resilient, and they never gave up, and I’m so happy and proud and grateful to have gotten to see them win another SEC championship.

While we are still in a world AT war, rather than a World War, the connections between the various wars are becoming ever more clear.

Case in point, Israel's current conflicts and the War in Ukraine are directly related to the offensive in Aleppo.

The past two years have seen the most conflicts of any time since the end of the Second World War.
