the hardest part about being trans is being forced to accept that your family probably kinda sucks, whereas if you're cis you can likely tolerate only seeing your lead-poisoned uncle a few times a year because "oh he's family". we don't really get the comfort nor convenience of cognitive dissonance.

It really is fascinating how disparate the northern and southern colonies were in culture and ideology. Nonetheless, they made it work. Unfortunately, the northerners devil’s bargain with allowing slavery is still a chilling reminder of political pragmatism over principle. #HATM
