Hero’s of the day - In a small town of Beckley, WV, Kendra Sullivan staged a one-woman No Kings protest. She was confronted, had the police called on her, but stood her ground. She was physically threatened. Police came more than once and protected her right to protest. This is how we do it.

Does anybody have a starter pack, or it's equivalent to block all sports related accounts?

No hate, just extremely uninterested in any kind of team sports.

Let's talk about flashbangs.

FBs are extraordinarily dangerous devices. A Couple of decades ago I worked on a project to try to make them safer. The primary result of that research was to produce pyrotechnics that reduced flame temperature, and increased gas volume.

This is so accurate, and on point for this time.
Modern American culture expects/demands immediate results. Good governance, good construction, good science, those things take time, thinking, planning.

Wrecking stuff is fast. You can show the results this week.

This gives the Break Shit/Burn It All Down Party an advantage.

It’s that simple.

We had a 28-year incumbent Rep who barely even showed up to the legislature.

We collected signatures for a libertarian run against him. Our candidate lost his job and got evicted, and didn't file.

It turns out the incumbent forgot to file. No R filed.

If our guy had filed, he would have won.

The time to organize to run for 2026 is now. Signature collection in many states starts in October of this year.

Everybody has an excuse why they can't run for office, I don't give a shit. If you have time enough to complain in social media, you can run.

No excuses!

Why bother running in 26 if your district is a lock for the evil party? Because it shows opposition. Every uncontested primary every uncontested general election shows those in power that the electorate is apathetic and or content with the current course of things.

Run for office, Damn it!
July 4, 2025 at 5:18 PM
It's our own fault.

70% of electoral races across the country were uncontested in 2024.

Every legislative race should have an opponent. Every incumbent should have an appointment in the primary.

While I would prefer classical Liberal candidates on the ballot, let there be some opposition.

Means you should have just stuck to racism and xenophobia, and then all would be copacetic with this domination, in loomerland.

We need more Hoppe hate. More than Rand, Hoppe is completely fake Liberal/ libertarian language dressing up the reality of authoritarian, bigotry and cruelty.
I understand the frustration over dealing with silly nonsense. This is why serious liberal libertarians resisted engaging Hans Hoppe's "economics" of anarcho-capitalist monarchism. Letting it fester worked out poorly.

(My good friend @tomgpalmer.bsky.social is an exception. He skewers Hoppe here.)

What's your budget for paywall news?

I started keeping track of news articles that I have opted not to read because of subscriptions. In the last week, if I had paid for everything I wanted to read it would have come to more than $2,200 a year.

What do you actually spend on news subscriptions?

This is a fantastic piece of very dark poetry.

I spent a day with two MAGAts, one of them an immigrant. This is so on point for the delight they showed in the cruelty, and the indifference to anything resembling Justice, reason and the rule of law.

This framing moves attention away from Trump's guilt. Musk is the disposable designated bad guy, designed to absorb the guilt, then be sacrificed.

I'm going to get deported?
My mother was not fully naturalized in 1964 when I was born in Brooklyn.
That also means that my three children are also not citizens.
When they come for me & mine, my resistance will be loud.

This EO is just lies and posturing.

That's the wonderful thing about states of emergency. It's a state of mind, and in this case, the State of mind of a narcissistic unstable egomaniac probably suffering from early stage dementia.

Every dictatorship has a perpetual state of emergency, justifying emergency powers.
A president-elect has no authority to impose tariffs or have govt do anything else. Wake us up when something actually happens.

And the Constitution gives Congress the power to regulate trade. A president unilaterally imposing tariffs would be, at best, unconstitutionally abusing emergency powers.
Trump's latest shit talk is filling up the site.

We have to do better than that.
November 26, 2024 at 4:15 AM
Exactly spot on.

In addition, tariffs are the one tax that doesn't require congressional action, current law gives POTUS tariffs power.

Impose at will, exempt at will.
Trump loves tariffs because it's the most corrupt tax scheme imaginable.

Grovel to Trump and enrich him, get exempted from the tax.

Stand up to Trump, get your business taxed to oblivion and destroyed.

It's as simple as that.
