I know the proliferation of references to non-existent papers, powered by genAI, is getting less surprising and shocking but it doesn't make it any less potentially corrosive to the scholarly knowledge environment.

Deutschland ist Israels zweitgrößter Waffenlieferant. Deutsche Panzergetriebe des Unternehmens Renk sind ein Herzstück der Panzer, die in großer Zahl in Gazas dicht besiedelten Gebieten und nahe ziviler Einrichtungen eingesetzt werden. Ohne sie wäre der Bodenkrieg in dieser Form nicht möglich.

I remember being astonished when a million people turned up to protest in London - 10 million worldwide - and thinking they cannot possibly ignore this. And when they did was the moment most of us realised that our govts no longer account to their citizens, but to other interests elsewhere.
