the US profoundly needs a children's rights movement. children are not property... they deserve opportunity and learning and autonomy and security.... and our country just does not acknowledge this

Literally in the middle of writing an academic article right now talking about the death of medical privacy for trans patients. The government dropped charges on someone who leaked medical records to Chris Rufo. Tennessee got access to therapy notes and pre and post op nude photos. It's really bad.
The Justice Department has sent subpoenas to the providers of gender affirming care to trans youth. My understanding is that these are under the False Claims Act and they are attempting to gain access to full medical records of trans patients similar to how Tennessee did so.

By 2030, 1 in 4 women in developed countries will remain childfree.

Up to 45% will be single by choice.

Society will frame this as a crisis.
Governments will panic over birth rates.
This is about choice though…

It's about women walking away from the roles that kept men comfortable and powerful.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

In today’s episode of What Are They Thinking: “If you don’t see a hurricane coming… does it really exist?”

🚨 The Dept of Defense is shutting down its weather satellite program. No more data. No more updates. Meteorologists are scrambling—and we’re heading into peak storm season.

Brilliant timing.

Zohran Mamdani’s win has inspired over 3400 young people to raise their hands to run for office just since Tuesday. It’s now @runforsomething.net’s biggest candidate recruitment moment since the election.

A new generation of leaders is here.

A party that actually wanted to mobilize young and disillusioned voters would be studying Zohran Mamdani’s campaign like the Bible

We have gone from the margin of error to the margin of effort.

On the day before the election, we stand on the verge of toppling a political dynasty and winning a city we can afford. But we can only do it with you.

Yes. This trend is not new. But many have ignored the warning signs. Because grappling with the resurgence of misogyny requires that we grapple with the bigger forces that (I would argue) are driving the appeal of misogynistic messaging. Like financial capitalism and neoliberal policy regimes.
It’s important that we name that sociologists (including Jess) have been raising the alarm about these trends toward misogyny in young men and boys for a decade.

This isn’t something that sprung up out of nowhere. It has been brewing for their whole adult lives.
This isn't a stalled gender revolution. It's a gender counter-revolution. And the most troubling part is that it's younger men and boys the leading charge.

he is accepted immediately.

In a functioning democracy, a president who
-tries to seize Congress's constitutional spending powers
-attempts to rewrite the Constitution unilaterally
-pardons violent insurrectionists who attacked the government
-fires the Inspectors General and DOJ prosecutors

would face immediate impeachment
