Call from a producer this morning:

Zoe please help - we thought the panel on our show was balanced, but it turns out they’re both pro-mass detention camps for asylum seekers. Would you come on to be the anti-detention camp voice?

We are in a really bad place, friends, I am telling you.

It was bad having Tories, but you expect Tories to be bad. It would be terrible having Reform, but then you expect Reform to be terrible. But I'm not sure there's anything so disappointing and upsetting as having voted in hope for a Labour govt and finding you might as well have voted for the others

Since the election win Labour have

1. Appeased the far right

2. Delivered otherwise good policy ideas in a bad way e.g. WFA

3. Targeted the disabled with cuts instead of the richest with a wealth tax

The result? 808 Reform councillors

Labour need to change direction and be less cruel, fast

Labour need to resign themselves to losing the next election. They need to focus on doing some great stuff now while they have the power to do it rather than bad stuff or watered down good stuff in the hopes they might cling on.

We decided to watch “School of Rock” last night because it has “Minecraft Steve in it” (I know…It is what it is) and I decided to google a bit and, yall, the little singer girl just got married to the big security guard boy /in real life/. She’s a OBGYN sonographer and he’s a music industry lawyer.

The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.

I am seething with anger at Labour’s abuse of people with disabilities, made so abundantly clear yesterday. No doubt they think this performative cruelty will work well for them with Reform voters. I loathe them for it. www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/03...

Labour are at risk; not because they actively made things worse but mostly because they just didn’t make anything better. Like the bright kid at parents evening who doesn’t apply themselves
They have a huge majority and could force some real change - why aren’t they?

Labour should actually do something big and helpful instead of things that have good optics through the right-wing papers.
Show that progressive policies work, demonstrate what renewables can do. At least then you can look back at your one term in office and say you tried to make lives better.

My, incredibly pessimistic, prediction: US-Russia will negotiate a peace deal for Ukraine. US will only continue security assurances if Ukraine hold an election. Zelenskyy will lose and the new leader will be a Russian puppet.
