I got permission to share this, and I'm extremely grateful for that.

The Onion got this letter from one of our subscribers in Alaska. She works with dementia patients and decided to leave a copy in the car for each one.

This email made my year. Read it and you'll see what I mean. People are good.

There's a vegan taqueria near us and it's called "La Venganza." Haven't been there yet but the guy at the pizza place gave it to me as a side quest. (Side quest title "La Venganza.")

I didn't actually notice until now, but two years ago Spookipedia changed the title of its article on the 1980 October Surprise from the deceptive "1980 October Surprise Conspiracy Theory" to the puzzling "1980 October Surprise Theory."

Spectacular #longread on the history of the right-wing opposition in Venezuela, and how during Juan Guaido's shadow government an abominable legal strategy robbed the country of $30 billion destined for corporate claims holders. Amazing work from Moe Tkacik.

To be fair I read this and the article it's commenting on quickly so I may have missed something. What I like in this is that it notes that a big driver of faculty AI usage is overwork, which is partly an artifact of understaffing (and overstaffing at the management level, since management consume
About 25 percent of faculty members have used AI to save time in creating more engaging in-class activities or generating quizzes and other assessments. Yet talking about AI use is taboo in some quarters. https://chroni.cl/4rjLxQp

I'm reading *Why I Am Not A Buddhist* by Evan Thompson. So far it seems to be mostly a blistering takedown of the most scientistic strain of Buddhist modernism, primarily for failing to take notice of how Buddhist philosophy challenges shallow forms of naturalism.
