Like a wound, grief does not heal overnight. As the days pass, let the empty space fill with memories, let the sorrow be replaced with gratitude for the good times, the kind words, and most of all, the part of them that made you who you are.

I got an actual "Your silence on this subject is deafening" message this AM, so, super-quick: Nobody here owes anyone commentary about anything. This is a public park. It's full of interesting people. We hang out here, make friends, and chat, and then we leave to do whatever it is we do. That's it!

A stunning second album. Audacious and surefooted in its understated mood.
On this day in 1988, Cowboy Junkies released their second studio album The Trinity Session. Recorded a year earlier, the album went 2x platinum in Canada and reached #28. It also hit #26 on the Billboard 200. It remains one of the most celebrated Canadian albums in history.

Gotta say, Welcome to the Pleasure Dome still rocks after all these years. Great if you're in the right mood. (Yeah it's filled with remakes too, but ok...)

Banting and Best sold the patent for insulin to the University of Toronto for $1 in 1923.

Insulin should be available at cost.
Sir Frederick Banting wasn't just the co-discover of insulin.
He was the youngest recipient of the Nobel prize in Physiology or Medicine, an accomplished artist, and a decorated war hero.
This is the story of one of the greatest Canadians.

The corner store in my old neighbourhood was a delight. And the small independent coffee and pastry shop on the next block. All right in the middle of residential blocks.
The neighbourhood retail report as amended CARRIES 23-2.

Toronto Council votes to permit corner stores in all Old Toronto & East York wards, and expands permission for retail on some (but not all) major streets city-wide.

The world’s first microprocessor is *NOT* from Intel.

But you won’t find it in many textbooks.

It was a secret only declassified in 1998; for good reason.

The Garrett AiResearch F14 Air Data Computer was 8x faster than the Intel 4004, and a year earlier!

NEWS FROM CANADA

36 year old man with no fixed address took an articulated bus on a 15 minute ride on its route. Passengers provided directions when the driver took a wrong turn.

The driver picked up and dropped off passengers along the way.
