Things is always lurking in my top ten films. And I always end up showing people this poster when I am drunk at parties & they are asking about what kind of cinema I adore. The VHS eras Vampyr. The kind of film you might never actually wake up from.
Watched Things (1989) this afternoon. I love when movies look like lost transmissions from a hell dimension. Underrated aspect is the disjointed ADR’d audio. I hope I never see this in a pristine HD cut. Contextless screens to follow because this is a vibes movie 📽️ #horrorsky

All time classic. Had this in my Halloween recommend list last month, so this is your second reminder to bump it up the watchlist if you haven't already soaked up this stunning masterwork.
Woke up thinking about Onibaba (1964).

What a film.
Two women survive in warring feudal Japan by tricking and murdering samurai, and stealing their belongings.
But when someone gets between the two women, the eldest tells of an evil curse that may be on them both...
Machete's way up for this one.🔪🔪

Amazing. Every mall should have a kaiju.
The giant inflatable kaiju was unexpected, I love this thing.

Been a while since a crime doco had me pulling out the red string & having deep conversations for hours around it, so hats off to The Fox Hollow Murders such a compelling examination of Herb Baumeister & the absolute mess he left in his wake (a mess the cops abandoned & made messier).

Happy birthday to the great Veronica Lake. Here is a poster for her last movie, FLESH FEAST, which is horrible but has an insane last minute twist. But even in such dire material, she raises her eyebrow engagingly. #filmsky

Who's the real threat?
Cops haphazardly lobbing grenades into crowds should be a sharp wake up call.

If you're in Craigieburn, I'm at the Hume Taste & Tunes Market on Grand Boulevard raising funds for Second Chance Animal Rescue. Lots of random for sale: cat & dog accessories, random knick knacks, handbags, jewellery, a tonne of Mushroom CDs & DVDs.

Big surprise. The corruption is baked in.
NEW: We’ve uncovered the first known example of taxpayer money flowing from DHS to businesses controlled by Kristi Noem’s allies and friends.

It’s part of a money trail that’s been shrouded in secrecy—and involves $220 million, a mysterious Delaware LLC & a horse named Gill.

Holy shit that Charlie XCX track featuring John Cale is really something. Best listened to on headphones. Feels like a whole space. Everything stops and yet it still builds inexorably. Good dark times.

Watching the Lumet version of Murder On The Orient Express and enjoying all the characters and voices people are putting on. And then Sean Connery rocks up and is Sean Connery 😂

The Guest.
It gets some cred, but I could seriously talk about The Guest for at least 6-9 hours.

"Ukrainian mythology is so rich, and it always has to do with the female side," film producer Iryna Kostyuk on her cycle of genre films that are taking off at the box office in a war zone. Witches, zombies & neo-nazi Russian vampires!
‘A Ukrainian witch kicks the crap out of Russian soldiers’: the new wave of horror films taking on Putin’s army
Homegrown, female-driven scary movies in which witches and zombies lay waste to invading troops are proving popular in Ukraine. But why seek out horror on screen if you have so much of it in real life...

This mercurial anime has been lurking in my subconscious for a month now. Not quite coming into focus yet, still processing why it so deeply had its tendrils into me.
The great discussion here from Alex, Vrai & Toni helped reveal the intricacies of a remarkable tale of humans & horrors. Appreciated!

Revisiting Columbo from the start. It's been at least 25yrs but he was a TV staple of my childhood. So many forgotten aspects coming back to me, like reminiscing with an old friend. The performances & the script still feel eager to engage & play with these situations. Delightful!

I have ground to a halt at the end of volume 10 of the Chainsaw Man manga.
I am fanging to find out what happens, and also quite sure that I am not entirely prepared for how much stomping on my heart is yet to come.

Nothing like hanging picture frames to remind one that two arms is an unhelpful amount of arms. More helpful than one or none, yes, but two definitely goes in the 'Not ideal human evolution' bucket.

I've truly lost the will and ability to be anything. It's just gone. I'm not even a shadow of who I once was. It's exhausting. There is so little left.
