The truth is that mayors dont have any real power to unilaterally do alot of things and because he is a Democrat and needs the support of the party financially, Mamdani will be brought to heel the same way AOC was in her first term. The institutions are the problem.

Idk how folks didn’t see this even before the genocide of Palestinians. And yet genocide still isn’t the redline for some to blindly support a party they’ve been told is their ONLY option.
The Democratic Party should be in every major city and small rural area running food drives and registering people to vote right now.
But they wont. Because “at least we’re not Trump” doesnt require any thoughts or demands. It’s just “shut up and vote for us.”
And that is a losing strategy
