I keep telling you folks - the solution is to abolish it!
Local government is creaking under the now effectively annual cost of 'extreme' climate events. Even when those don't happen every single year, the cost does. Tweed Shire Council is just now finishing repairs from February 2022 climate floods.
The insured costs of climate change are now 12 times higher than 20 years ago, while local government revenue is only three times higher, a new report from the Australia Institute shows.

“Big gas, coal and oil companies make a killing from climate change, and it’s time they started paying for it."

WHY IS YOUR HEAD MADE ENTIRELY OF BACON???
“The entire purpose of science is to search for existential truths,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told me. “It’s not subjective. It should be objective. I believe science is a place where you can find unity if you can get a conversation going.” www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...
Why Is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. So Convinced He’s Right?
How an outsider, once ignored by the public-health establishment, became the most powerful man in science

Hi @bsky.app

If you want this to be a global platform, how about trending topics reflecting the other 96% of the world's population?

The domination of this site by American news and American topics is one of its greatest drawbacks

Hell, even old Elon manages to get this right

on this logic all the alleged rapists could be sacked without notice. So as to you know cut off their income based on “serious” allegations. Oddly nobody is proposing that employed rapists be punished without a guilty plea or guilty verdict.

"quietly" means the press gallery missed this, yet again, for over a month

At this point X is like 1950s Vienna, a whole place made up entirely of spies, running ops against other spies, with no non-spy people. Or maybe like a 1971 Black Panthers convention where 3/4 of the attendees are conintelrpo.

"Sir, did you just abuse and insult a journalist for asking a question? And did you publicly call a woman a piggie? Is this the way a U.S. President behaves?"

A reporter who so spoke loses WH credentials, maybe his job if his agency is gutless. But absent such, the entire WHPC is without honor.

Sorry to be obnoxious about this but all the criticisms of Grok's blatant pro-Musk tuning ring just absurdly hollow if no one is actually willing to give up directly contributing to Elon Musk's website and in doing so, creating the conditions that make millions of people use the fucking chatbot

Canada has already lost its measles elimination status.

The US is on track to lose its status in January.

Just like with COVID, it’s the kids who are going to pay the biggest price.

They have no agency. They can’t decide to get vaccinated, their parents must do the right thing.

I’ll be honest, I’m not finding this constant stream of “we have unfortunately misled you” by the NACC very reassuring
Defence inspector inadvertently omitted 10 consultations with NACC chief
A previous disclosure that the head of the federal corruption watchdog had been consulted 11 times has been corrected to 21.

Australians being so nonchalant about neoliberalism was that they assumed that only the Coalition were involved & that Labor would always be there to rescue them one day

All the while, from the very beginning, Labor was there too with the Coalition, obscured by the media

No rescue
