The New York Times' story about Trump calling for the execution of members of Congress ran on Page 16 today, with an itty-bitty promo on the front about halfway down the page.
No wonder Trump thinks he can get away with anything.

Zohran Mamdani doesn’t make me, an American Jew, feel unsafe.

Having the Coast Guard, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, decide that a swastika isn’t really a symbol of hate? That makes me, an American Jew, feel pretty damn unsafe.

Just why is it that there is not a student movement against autocracy in America? “No Kings”, ok. But that was weeks ago.
Where are all the people who stood up against the war in Gaza? Where are the permanent protest camps?
I find it baffling, but maybe I’m getting old.

"The Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika as a hate symbol.

"Instead, the Coast Guard will classify the Nazi insignia as 'potentially divisive' under its new guidelines.

"The new policy similarly downgrades the definition of nooses and the Confederate flag."

NEW: Sean Duffy frequently calls safety his “top priority” as transportation secretary. But I spent months wading through regulatory notices and found something far different: that USDOT has been delaying, weakening and killing dozens of safety rules, many opposed by the transportation industry.🧵

Maybe it could be a talking point that Donald Trump has no idea what is wrong or right? That he only thinks in terms of what someone can get away with? I mean it is not the first time I have this thought but maybe it could be used as an argument?
This version of a deal would signal that it’s aok to invade neighbouring territory if they’re considered to be part of your sphere of influence.

Might as well hand over Taiwan to China right now.

I am not an expert on American politicians but I cannot remember any other politician that is so far away from perfect as Donald Trump. He isn't even ok or acceptable in his behavior.
GOP Rep. Salazar won't criticize Trump calling a woman reporter "piggy" -- "President Trump is a very different type of politician. But I always say I look at his policies and not his personality. Nobody is perfect."
