That’s right. The billionaire bailout bill forces your tax dollars to pay for concentration camps and masked thugs to disappear your neighbors without due process. 16M people will be thrown off healthcare to pay for that, along with tax breaks for the rich.
Take a minute to look at these increases to the ICE budget in the GOP mega bill. Take another minute to let it sink in. They're preparing a police state that will far exceed rounding up Spanish-speaking brown people.

Watching The Eleven on about 11 very young girls were murdered over the course of about 7 years in the 1970s. Obviously, DNA was not a capability of science in the 70's, but I keep thinking; they HAD to have kept their clothing the girls' remains were found in. (1) @liseolsen.bsky.social

Between the fires and these protests, I hope this year teaches everyone that most of the shit talking you hear about California and more specifically, LA, comes from racists and gentrifying transplants. Most people love living here and would do anything to protect it.

i don’t know what to say about the images coming out of LA right now. but in case you need it, here’s a reminder that out in the streets, only water goes in your eyes. flush with water. take your clothes off when you get home & take a cool shower, wash yourself with dish soap a few times. godspeed.

UPDATE: Nick is in good spirits and recovering in hospital. The doctor told me the injury was so bad that they treated it as if it were a gunshot wound. Part of a stun grenade traveled deep into the tissue and was only visible by a cat scan. He sends his love and appreciation for all the support.

FWIW, the line a lot of Angelenos online have been taking is that Trump is clearly itching for distraction, so our job is to NOT give them the escalation they want. i think a lot of this comes back to the fact that Hitler's early life was one of intense deprivation and loss. he wasn't the only Nazi like that but by and large his followers and voters were not reacting to their objective poverty or privation, but the FEELING that they ought to have more.
You cannot possibly believe that. People do bad things out of material deprivation, sure, but that is explicitly not why they turn to fascism. Fascism, as a mass movement, unites the bourgeois and proletariat not on material concerns, but fantastical ones - what one calls 'false consciousness'.
Do you think people would have better reasons to live than inflicting pain if they had, say, free healthcare and education, maybe if they didn't need to work 3 jobs to keep an apartment, maybe if their food was fit to eat or their air fit to breathe?? or did they not get born in the Moral zip code?

i've been trying to see what the right wing platforms (even outside of X) are showing people regarding the protests in LA and i am not sure it can be overstated just how much the AI slop is being used to reinforce the idea that downtown is a post-apocalyptic war zone
