Here is a photo of a trans non-binary biologist (me) holding a bird (Eastern Towhee) that is likely a bilateral gynandromorph-- a fusion of cells with female-type chromosomes and cells with male-type chromosomes in one bird!

Biological sex and human gender diversity is real and wonderful ❤️🏳️‍⚧️

THere’s something like 5 k-12 trans athletes in the country.

FIVE.

Please stop pretending like this is some dire concern from people who really give a shit about women’s sports.

I’m begging you to stop being distracted by these ceaseless attacks on trans people.

If you are Trans living in the fascist country, and you can leave, please do.
THEY'RE GOING TO ISSUE PERMANENT VISA BANS TO TRANS VISITORS TO THE US.

This isn't just for athletes. The directive as stated applies to all visa applications made by trans folks and declare it material fraud to use a different gender marker on applications.

Please consider moving to Europe if you are a Trans researcher living in the US.
There are no safe places, but most countries apart from the UK are better than the US right now.

Today is a hard day for Trans people living in America. And sadly, it is going to remain the case for a while.
Sending all my support to them.

What I find truly amazing, is the idea that by "simply" plunging the grid in liquid ethane at high speed it works.
I would have thought it involved pressure, and complex systems, not a robotic arm !

Amorphous ice is the most common way of water in the universe and scientists have it on Earth!

Jacques Dubochet, former EMBL biophysicist and Nobel Laureate, discovered how to create it, which can be used to immobilise cells. 🧊 🧫
