A new message just appeared on the USAID website, announcing that all employees (with a few exceptions) worldwide will be placed on administrative leave. They are illegally shutting down a government agency.

Where are all the GOP senators who said they support the work of USAID?

This is a perfect example of today's congressional Republican -- she confidently repeats an idiotic lie from Trump that's already been disproven, is immediately called out for the lie, and just lets what would normally be a career-ending moment roll right off her back. No brain, no shame.
Malliotakis: We try to get to the bottom of where this money is going, $50 million for condoms in Gaza, for example. These are real things!

Phillip: We know that there was not $50 million spent for condoms in Gaza. There was $0 spent on condoms in the Middle East. That is a complete lie

Worth noting that McConnell refusing to whip votes to convict Trump at his impeachment trial (or vote himself to convict) is *why* we’re now in a position where Hegseth is the Defense Secretary. If McConnell is looking for the person at fault, he might want to consult a mirror.

Young voters have been socialized into Trumpian politics. Some like him, some very much do not, some are unsure, but all see this style of politics as normal. It's all they've known.

Suddenly, Trump Allies Quietly Admit He May Not Have a Huge “Mandate”
As people around Trump fear that he starts his presidency in a less dominant position than he thinks, a political theorist explains why so much is riding on the public rejecting his second term.

Always important to remember, when it happened, everyone knew how bad it was. They all needed time to create a web of justifications and excuses to justify or dismiss the gravity of it. The incoming president led a criminal attempt to overthrow the republic.
At the time, everyone, including Republicans, understood how bad it was. Then, brick by brick, they built a foundation of lies to justify doing what they know, deep down, to be wrong. Trump betrayed the country. And so do they.
