Cases of pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, have jumped 14-fold since 2023, alarming state health officials.

As of Dec. 8, there were 1,578 confirmed cases of pertussis in Michigan, compared to 110 for the full year of 2023.

Other than the NSW surveillance report which now comes out fortnightly, I would say the COVID-19 outbreaks in Australian residential aged care facilities report is another good indicator for NSW. Its also the only report that still comes out weekly. I bet that will soon change.

I don't want to live this way, wearing a respirator the whole time, not eating indoors with folk outside our household, constantly alert, constantly defensive, constantly criticised.

But I know that the other way is wrong.

So until a better way comes along, I'll persist.
