Still blows my mind how many people watch bladerunner and see deckard as a hero figure, and even worse view the replicants as villains.

I hope it's just the protagonist effect

When I was placed on the Professor Watchlist in 2021, people sent death threats about my children. I had security officers monitor my 8yo at school.

Where is all the outrage for those of us who have been targeted for years? Where is the outrage for our families?

My own colleagues are silent.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

every time there's political violence discourse i think about how jo cox was assassinated in broad daylight by a fascist who shouted "britain first" as he shot her, and now nine years later her party is dedicating every moment in power to placating the ideology of her murderer

Agreed, although there's been a lot of political violence this year. Politicians are dead for it.

This death's main significance is how much it will upset powerful people. They will then inflict even more violence and death than they already have as revenge.
Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

People in the replies are doing some serious gymnastics to avoid admitting that they don't care if the Romani also die.

They are the person in a crisis who just shuts down and does nothing, i.e. the online left post-Obama.

This has the same fundamental problem all AI content companies have. If I wanted AI content, why would I consume someone else's when I can make my own? The barrier to entry is low & getting lower.

Unpleasant, ignorant and error-ridden rubbish from Jenni Russell in the Times, arguing for the "remigration" agenda of Jenrick/Lowe

Below quotes nonsense numbers from the Centre for Policy studies that the CPS has itself admitted are fictional..

Based on blocks my most unpopular opinions here are:

1. 'Pro-AI' i.e. GenAI is very useful.
2. Neutral on Zionism/anti-Zionism is usually a dogwhistle.
3. Covid is not a huge issue anymore.

2 makes sense to me, but it's wild to me that 1 & 3 are controversial here.

This is a good post on how to get better at using AI. It's the product of pretty intensive research on what consistently works although I don't surface that research directly in it.

Bluesky and AI, so obviously comments on this are off. mikecaulfield.substack.com/p/is-the-llm...
Is the LLM response wrong, or have you just failed to iterate it?
Many "errors" in search-assisted LLMs are not errors at all, but the result of an investigation aborted too soon. Here's how to up your LLM-based verification game by going to round two.
