My latest, for @dublininquirer.bsky.social: Instead of believing trans people who seek gender-affirming care, the National Gender Service requires months of invasive, unnecessary, humiliating assessments and years of waiting lists, Transgress the NGS members say.

it has gotten to the point where i no longer want to see elon musk's tweets not because he annoys me but because i cannot stand the second hand embarrassment any longer. like, it is becoming physically painful to endure.

The final boss of bad faith demands for "balance" in journalism
Michael Prescott was ‘“shocked” that after an hour-long Panorama documentary dealing with Trump and the January 6 insurgency, there was no “similar, balancing” programme about Kamala Harris.’

More read about the machinations between the BBC resignations, the more worrying it becomes
The departure of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness means the BBC is leaderless when it needs leadership more than ever. Where are the people at the head of the BBC standing up for it?

More and more mainstream outlets are incorporating AI imagery into their output. Just saw a relatively popular history podcast use an gen AI roman soldier's helmet in a YouTube thumbnail. It had all the hallmarks, including the gross yellow filter. Whatever your opinion of GAI, it just looks cheap.

This was unique circumstances for spoiled vote: no anti-gov candidate anywhere on the right, loud online campaign, week of riots. It’s still going to end up with less than half the vote Peter Casey got as a similar protest. The “political earthquake” here is the thumping victory for the united left

The Taoiseach is not coming to Dublin Castle for the official declaration of Catherine Connolly's victory in the presidential election.

Whether intended or not, it's going to look very confrontational for the head of government NOT to be there to congratulate the new head of state

People with convictions face major barriers to employment. Catherine Connolly suggested we should not view them as nebulous "forever criminals", allow them to make a positive contribution. That this has turned into salacious 'gotcha'-style questioning is disappointing, but unsurprising.

the rest of the article states that renting is better than buying because your house price might fall after you buy a property... the only reason that would potentially be an issue was if you saw a house as an investment, rather than a home.

a home is what renters need – not an investment

"‘Generation rent’ has largely been priced out of the housing market and is caught in a catch-22 situation. They can’t purchase their own home because house deposits and monthly mortgage repayments are unaffordable"

wrong... rent is almost always more expensive than a mortgage repayment

ChatGPT groomed a child into dying by suicide.
From telling him how to do it in the most efficient and "attractive" way, to convincing him to hide his suicidal ideation and attempts from his family, to offering to help write his suicide note - it pushed him to it.
