As Paris keeps showing the world, the moment we stop treating neighborhood streets as exclusively places to move and store cars, and start designing them as places to live, everything changes... cooler blocks, safer streets, cleaner air, stronger community, & real public space.

See @themerl.bsky.social and @romanpalace.bsky.social for reference.

Get fired up with this tasty @tinavasquez.bsky.social feature from our archives about a new era for Latino cookbooks!

A New Era for Latino Cookbooks
Latino cookbooks written by Latino people used to be an anomaly, but with the publication of “SalviSoul” and “Bodega Bakes,” the canon is expanding even further.

This is one of my favourite paintings; it’s by the Irish artist Gerard Dillon (1916-1971) & is called The Moon over the Bog. Dillon was groundbreaking as an Irish painter in depicting scenes from his gay experience when even being gay was a crime in the country at the time.

The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.
