jokes aside, racism and other forms of bigotry are actually further mystified by pretending that these forms of discrimination did/do not exist. you start making anti-Black racism sound more natural and primordial as opposed to the outcome of political processes
You can easily say that descendants of Italian, Irish and Jewish immigrants to America today face radically less levels of systemic discrimination than their ancestors did in the 1800’s without being like “and actually that discrimination never even existed”. Erasing that history is genuinely insane
