I’ll say this much: This reads exactly like what it is: people who discovered romance five years ago and decided they had all kinds of amazing new ideas to “fix” it. Connections between books? That feel kind of cozy to the reader? How did no one ever think of that?? www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/b...

Book banning in public and school libraries is still very much happening. booksunbanned.com supports the rights of teens to read. Teens can get a digital library card that allows them access to ebooks regardless of where they live. #coreforum2025

Listening to @cfiesler.bsky.social at #coreforum2025 makes me miss teaching information literacy. It’s a whole different world from when I left academia 3+ years ago, and it has become so much more essential.

💙📚 Takes place prior to the events in Invasive. @chuckwendig.bsky.social plays upon my fears about computers taking over the world. It is interesting to see the early seeds of Wanderers on this book (and Invasive). Lower squick, just as many nightmares. Recommend!

💙📚Did @kevinhearne.bsky.social write an entire book so he could offhandedly drop in the legend of the creation of truck nutz? Uproarious humor, redemption arcs, adventure, and love cheese. And the phenomenal narration of Luke Daniels.

💙📚 Super high squick-factor on this one, but the story was so good that I kept reading it even while plagued by a recurring case of stress hives. I really loved how Hannah’s background informed her reactions and interactions. @chuckwendig.bsky.social, I hate you for formication nightmares. 🐜

💙📚 The only thing better than a book by @kevinhearne.bsky.social is that book read by Luke Daniels. This laugh-out-loud wild ride accompanied me & my family on a recent road trip. The 14-year-old was locked in immediately locked in, but even the 19-year-old was quickly captivated.

Needed a book to read for the end of my trip, and this ebook was immediately available from my library. The first “I hate you, @chuckwendig.bsky.social” moment came in the second chapter. I think I should not have picked this one while suffering from hives.

💙📚I am not sure where this recommendation came from, but I am very glad I came across it. I like my horror with a side of humor and The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins was a fun read. The story wrapped up neatly but I’d gladly spend more time in this world.

💙📚The third book in the series, Children of Memory is a meditation on what makes someone a sentient being. The corvids, Gothi and Gethli, are an impeccable embodiment of the benefits of neurodiversity. Definite echoes of why my partner and I make such a good combination.

💙📚Octopodes In Spaaaaace! The sequel to Children of Time does not disappoint. Again Tchaikovsky envelopes the reader in a completely alien way of thinking. Incredible world building. Also highly recommend this as an audiobook; I alternated listening and reading.

💙📚 yet another fantastic horror book from @chuckwendig.bsky.social. Less squick in this one than in some of his others, just as much fantastic storytelling. Complex characters, a hefty dose of humor (including laugh-out-loud moments), and a sprinkle of political spite. Highly recommend.

💙📚 I don’t usually post picture books, but I kept seeing this on a book truck at work when I was having one of those days. Cute story with a funny twist. I can verify that it is good for reading out loud. I bought it for my second cousin and read it appropriately eleventy-billion times this weekend.

Time for more book posts 💙📚
I haven’t been reading as many books this summer. There’s also a larger number than normal in the in-progress pile because I get distracted and wander off.

Information Literacy is complicated by bad actors have learned to cloak themselves in the guise of respectability: American College of Pediatricians is NOT the American Academy of Pediatrics but they intentionally sound so similar it’s very easy to confuse them even if you know about them.
This is the core of it. In the 20th century, verification happened inside institutions.
Now, it has to happen in us.
A short thread on what that shift really means, and why it has to start in schools. 🧵
Who should do the fact checks with millions and millions of fake news? The nature of social media itself is the problem. However it probably is impossible to get rid of every social network and revert debates to pre 2010-status.

I think a lot of OPs thread misunderstands the process of source evaluation, what "verification" of information was historically and is today, how public education works in the US, and how critical thinking is taught today. But the core point about digital literacy still stands.
