The wealthiest 10% burns 90% of the carbon.

What follows from that?

Speculative process philosopher. Antifascist, anticapitalist.

This is not a hypothetical. It’s happening.

That Big Dumb Racist bill gives $170 billion dollars for an organization which has no respect for the constitution, no oversight, nothing but marching orders from a couple racist, power-hungry madmen.

Seems like has been very little coverage of protests happening in the U.S.--not necessarily an intentional media blackout (although possibly), but the result of a longstanding stance in legacy media that protests aren't worth covering, activists aren't credible sources (but somehow CEOs are), etc.

The United States is a rogue state that’s now launched an imperialist trade war against Canada and Mexico.

It’s time for countries, especially its former allies, to form an alliance to make the US feel the consequences of its actions and to break their dependence on US tech once and for all.
The United States has gone rogue. There must be consequences.
Countries must form new alliances and end their dependence on US tech in response to Trump’s trade war

The mystery of what motivates the far right becomes clearer if you consider that it isn't as much a positive vision or ideology but more about punishing who they hate: educated elites who have lectured them for their whole life about how stupid and worthless they are.
The dominant, perhaps only, mode of communication by Democratic Party leadership to truly anyone at all is condescension.
“We have to meet REAL Americans where they’re at: gun shows and tailgates” - these are the words of completely insular bloodsuckers whose strategy for political communication is to imagine the dumbest yokel they can, and then try to imagine how to talk down to that person

I was recently leaked a document that was written by and for think tank and DNC affiliated policy wonks and circulated in private chats. It describes in unsparing terms the threat Curtis Yarvin, Neoreactionary tech founders, and Elon Musk pose to democracy.

sifting through submitted applications for phds & postdocs for the accountability lab & it breaks my heart to see a huge proportion of applicants are steeped in EA, long-termism, & other scientifically hollow ideologies…most think “AI safety” is THE paradigm to correct much of the industry’s ills

Now do a Venn diagram of high CO2 emmiters, the world's wealthiest 10% and the Democratic party base of the professional/managerial/media/capital class. The Dems are now the conservative party intent on protecting their assets and an institutional status quo that is catastrophic to the vast majority
You need to see shocking extent of carbon inequality around the world.

A remarkable study led by Jared Starr finds that super-rich US households emit *2000 TIMES* more CO2e than average low-income country households.

How the f*ck is that even possible? The disparity never ceases to enrage me.
