Notice how the popular media narrative has moved on, while people on the ground in Minneapolis are still struggling and crying out that things are as bad as ever. This is how fascist regimes operate — overreach, recalibration, normalization. Get louder, not quieter.

So to recap, the FAA announced a ten day closure of El Paso airspace with no explanation and no advanced notice to the local governments. They basically said fuck it, we’re doing this.

Now they are reopening the airspace…also with no explanation.

The key message here is not that El Paso airport is shut down for "security reasons" for 10- TEN days.

The key message is that the government can just do wtf they want and doesn't owe anyone any explanation.

Now that the air travel has been shut down around El Paso for 10 days, the next thing worth looking out for is how far federal forces set up checkpoints around the city towards its links to the North and not just directly at the Mexican border

We can simultaneously say Bad Bunny is a citizen of the US and denying the existence of his citizenship is racist and xenophobic AND we can point out that his citizenship, and that of every Puerto Rican, is essentially a second class version as a result of colonialism and oppression to this day.

Was driving my kids to school and the first thing on the radio was reporting about Trump's video depicting the Obamas as apes and I think many people still don't fully appreciate what it means to have to raise Black children in a country where the president is so brazenly and consistently racist

Today is as good as any for any White House reporter to ask about Trump's cognitive health. If you're trying to preserve your access to get the future scoop on a nuclear missile launch, maybe consider helping the rest of us prevent it from getting to that point.

Just want to say, I see all the comments saying it’s a sign of his senility or mental decline. You could be right but I have a thing about linking racism to mental acuity. Not sure it needs to be, most of the time, and I don’t like the idea of racism as deviant, for a lot of reasons.

The mainstream news media will never call Trump explicity racist. They'll always dodge the allegation. That's because the white people running the joints need to believe that there is a distinction between donig racist things and promoting racist polices, versus being *personally* racist.

Racism is not an unknowable disease of the heart, it's a provable set of actions and responses. That's why the @nytimes.com can't handle. For them to admit that Trump is racist would mean they'd have to admit they been carrying the water for a racist all these years. They won't ever do that.

But we are now in a frankly cartoonish situation. It really just sort of IS good vs evil. There aren’t actually many good points worth considering on the MAGA side, and it really is all just lies and bigotry. And people who thought their job was teasing out nuance are having trouble adapting.

Issue is people like to believe racism is some feature of the mind they can pull in and out of a box when they want to have a little fun and not a guiding philosophy in worldview with material consequences for everyone, not just Black people.
