So few people writing for mainstream publications are fit to diagnose or even describe our current status and they prove it by even now consistently using the right’s framing in their reporting.

What these nihilistic vandals are doing to dismantle science & medicine—generations of expertise & public service & life improving benefits—is cultural revolution level national self harm. No foreign foe could inflict such brutal damage & senseless suffering on US so fast & effectively & unresisted.

Yeah this is just early capitulation to fascism. We CAN control Trump’s behavior as far as policy is concerned and it’s a cop-out to say this. He is easy to influence through public opinion and other means bc he has no real ideology
I disagree with some of what Dave Chappelle has said, but he was on point during last night's SNL monologue when, in the context of discussing Trump's return, he asked all of us to DO BETTER.

We can't control Trump's behaviour, but we CAN, each of us, be better people.

I love how embracing segregationism is cool now that it's been rebranded as anti-wokeness

An FTC report (under chair Lina Khan, who Elon hates and who Trump will replace) finds United Health has been overcharging cancer patients an obscene amount and PBM’s have been pocketing extra billions.

No wonder they hate her.

The most infuriating quality that most humans possess is not being able to imagine that someone who was kind or friendly to you could be awful to someone else. I’ve never found someone so mature as to not fall into this trap

Watching people who knew Neil Gaiman continuing to reckon with the news and struggling to reconcile it with the person they thought they knew, I keep coming back to this.
I was just saying to a friend, someone who was horrified by a prominent person’s wretched behavior (but this individual was fine/good to my friend)—I said, “never forget, these people choose the targets of their generosity & goodwill & appreciation as carefully as they choose their abuse targets.”
I think all the time about the interviewer who asked Meryl Streep “how did you not know about Weinstein” and she was like “I didn’t know because he NEEDED me not to know”

it isn’t a character flaw to have been deceived by someone who is a deceit expert cultivating the cover of your faith & goodwill

Between the California prison system's firefighter program and the Neil Gaiman stuff, I'm realizing people don't understand that consent under duress is not consent

There's this notion that only very poor folks rely on Medicaid — that's simply not true. Yes, Medicaid is the primary insurer of poor folks & millions rely on it

But there are also Medicaid waiver programs for, e.g. medically complex kids, that middle and upper class families rely on

It has been brought to my attention that Noah Wyle is still acting, and has somehow reverse-Substanced himself into Matthew McConaughey. If you see either one of them on the street, throw some weed or a pair of bongos to see how he reacts. This will help you identify them.
